I spent the day going though all my photos. I found a picture of each of my grand parents on their own and thought that I wanted to see them more often so they have been given the prime spot on the fridge!
"Tarte flambée is an Alemannic dish composed of thin bread dough rolled out in a circle or a rectangle, which is covered with crème fraîche, onions, and lardons. It is one of the most famous gastronomical specialties of the region" -wikipedia
I discovered tarte flambée a few years ago and have loved it ever since! This is my homemade version which actually turned out quite well. Of course the wood-fired stove versions are better but hey I had to make due with my oven.
Took an impromptu trip to IKEA today with the girls and made sure to take this picture for matt so he knows what to get me for my next christmas gift. So whoever sees him next (Andrea) you can show him this, thanks
Shannon and I went over to Anna's house tonight to help her put together her new IKEA desk (ok so I arrived after this had been put together by Anna & Shannon but I helped put together a small cabinet that fits under the desk!)
Back to me cooking on my own (Matt's still in the states). Swiss specialty, Rösti (Tessa I'm pretty sure you would really like this) hashbrown like potatoes, mushroom, ham, cheese and egg. Pretty much everything that is amazing in a pile. I'm almost positive this is the first Swiss meal I tried when Patrick and I were first traveling and I believe it was chicken curry Rösti which sounds awful now that I think about it!
Matt left today for the states. There will be a lot of photos to follow over the next few weeks which prove that I can cook and feed myself when Matt is away :)
